Sarang Ahuja is an aspiring musician from Providence, Rhode Island. As Sarang was growing up he discovered a Hawaii’n born musician, Jack Johnson, who changed his life forever. At that moment Sarang realized that he wanted to pursue a dream of music and the next day he went to the local music store and bought his first acoustic guitar when he was 14 years old.
Sarang began listening to all of Jack Johnson’s albums: On and On, Brushfire Fairytales, Sleep Through the Static and In Between Dreams. With his guitar he would listen to the songs and try to replicate every note so he could play like his idol. Sarang practiced daily and after months of working at it he was able to play nearly every Jack Johnson song from memory.
As time passed Sarang began listening to more artists of all different genres. He found a love of alternative and folk music from artists like Mumford & Sons, Gregory Alan Isakov and Of Monsters and Men. He branched out to rock, listening to The Black Keys, The Strokes, and The Beatles. Even hip hop and rap genres highlighted Sarang’s love of music with artists like Jay-Z, Lupe Fiasco, and Wiz Khalifa.
With his love of music expanding and his guitar talent broadening Sarang Ahuja decided to write his own music, mashing together the different genres he had grown to love. He mixed different influences into short, wordless songs at first and then began creating tracks up to three and four minutes in length.
Taking his passion to another level Sarang decided to open up a studio in his basement which he outfitted with a mixing console, direct box, audio interface, acoustic guitar, keyboard, and drum set. Sarang Ahuja is now working on music including his own original lyrics and continues to follow his dream of becoming a musician with aspirations of signing a record deal someday.
